Liz McLellan

One of the people we interviewed for this blog is  Liz McLellan, the creator and moderator of Hyperlocavore, a community site of people who value eating local and participating in a local yard sharing arrangement. She has over 8,000 followers on Twitter (@hyperlocavore) and her Ning community draws hundreds of groups together. She strives for healthy, safe foods  for all people, transforming foreclosed or deserted communities into vibrant gardens for growing food, and bringing together communities and neighbors through these shared efforts.

Liz’s passion for the goals she has set out for her online community shows in every section of her site and in every tweet. She works from a small town in eastern Oregon. She expressed to us her amazement at her reach and the difference she’s able to achieve thanks to social media. Hers is a true grassroots community aimed at connecting people to the food they eat, and to the communities in which they live.
